Rebekah Smith is COMING!!!

Hi friends!!!!

We are so excited to offer you three great days of fun-filled classes!  Our guest artist is Rebekah Smith!  I have loved her work for years and we have made arrangements for her to teach here in Florida for us!  Check out the beautiful works of art she will be teaching - made from her beautiful hand-dyed wool and her wonderful patterns. Do NOT wait too long to register.  From all of the phone calls and emails I have already received - she will fill her classes quickly.   You have your choice of taking one, two or three classes from her.  If you have any questions regarding her classes or information/instructions on the registration form, please email me at ( or call me (904) 742-1100.

Rebekah Smith - Folk Artist

along with  Heather Lynn and  Gloria Parsons
from the Olde Green Cupboard....are teaching
July 12 - 14, 2018
St. Augustine Outlets
500 Outlet Mall Blvd, St. Augustine  FL  32084

Antiques have been a part of Rebekah's life from an early age.  She grew up surrounded by people who especially appreciated the simple lines and bold colors of early American folk art.  She graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in graphic design but was dissatisfied with the computerization of the work.  It was Rebekah's mother who challenged her to paint in the style of Rufus Porter.  She gave her a cupboard to paint on, saying "try it and you can keep it".  Rebekah has never stopped painting on old surfaces since.  She has studied the Rufus Porter style and Pennsylvania German folk art, both of which continually inspire her work.  She also enjoys working on interiors, painting murals and stenciling.

A photo of an early example of wool applique inspired her wool work.  She repurposes wool and hand-dyes it, using a combination of natural and commercial dyes.  Rebekah's passion lies in color and design, both talents well-suited to folk art.  She and her husband continually work to restore their 1818 house in the Western Reserve of Ohio, along with their three daughters.

Rebekah has three classes she will be instructing during her visit with us.  We have scheduled one for each day.  She has a maximum class size of 25 students.  You can choose one class or all three.  She can even teach more than two projects in one class.
(see registration form instructions)

Registration for EACH day is $90.
(This daily rate covers facility, equipment rental, insurance, lunch (dinner is on your own), and refreshments.)
We will have an additional area for those of you who want to sit and sew and continue to enjoy the fun, but may not be taking all the classes. This option is only for those who register for one (or more classes) throughout the three days. This option has the same daily rate of $90 per day to cover the facility costs.

In addition, Heather and Gloria will each be instructing half day classes on Friday and Saturday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Once you've had a chance to look over the class selection, print out the registration form and send it in with your daily rate total which is also your registration fee.  Class and kit fees are due no later than June 1, 2018.
Remember... only 25 students per class.  There has been a HUGE interest in Rebekah's classes.... do not delay in sending your registration forms.  FIRST COME... FIRST SERVE IN THE MAIL.

Mohair Bears and Friends

Heather fell in love with mohair and wool "critters" when she first saw them in Pennsylvania at one of our primitive markets.  She just knew she could make them... and so true!  Today she makes all types of animals.... bears, bunnies, cats, dogs, foxes, and more.  She has also worked with customers in making mohair and wool replicas of their pets.  Many of her animals have been sent to Australia to assist teaching autistic children.  The joy she finds in watching her students make their first "friend" is a perfect ending to an instructors day! With over 15 years of experience, she will help you fall in love with the joys of making your creation.

   Gloria Parsons
Olde Green Cupboard Designs

After retiring from a 30 year banking career, Gloria set out to live her dream by owning the Olde Green Cupboard - an antique, home d├ęcor, gift and quilt shop.  From the first day the doors opened she has been able to use her background art and business skills to design and teach.  She was honored when she and her employees won the Country Business magazines "Rookie" store of the year... then on to win Better Homes & Garden's top 10 Quilt shop in 2004... then several years later to be featured in their top 20 shops of all times publication.   The most rewarding of all was working along beside her twin sister, Vicky and her daughter, Heather.  She continues to design in wool, basketry, and quilting.   Her love of the fiber arts continues to grow and grow.   The Olde Green Cupboard are also event planners for special groups and companies

The following needle punch patterns are from artist, Shawn Arnett, Threads That Bind and will come complete with weaver's cloth, pattern, backing and all threads.  Choose which one is your favorite for class and we'll show you how to punch, complete the edge and attach the backing.  These larger punched projects look like miniature rugs due to using 6 strands of floss in the construction.  They look stunning attached to cutting boards, box lids, or covering the bottom of a tray.  The class will also show you how to add tongues around the outside edge of each oval project.  We'll meet for instruction Friday and Saturday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  You are more than welcome to attend our sit-n-sew any of the three days to work on your project.

Choose one of the options below for class:
